Tune in tonight to watch Nickelodeon honor 4 young role models that are making a difference in their communities by “Helping and Leading Others” (HALO).
Nick Cannon is host, creator and executive producer of the 2016 Nickelodeon HALO Awards.
The one-hour musical event will feature special performances by Hailee Seinfeld, Zedd, Jason Derulo, Daya, Alessia Cara, and others.
“The 2016 Nickelodeon HALO Awards honorees are truly outstanding role models for this young generation and I can’t wait to celebrate them at this one-of-a-kind concert event,” Cannon says in a press release.
“The passion and commitment of these four teens have enabled them to bring about social change, helping thousands of kids around the world and inspiring countless others,” he continues. “That’s what HALO is all about.”
From Nick.com, here is a bit more about the honorees (photo: in order from left to right):
After overcoming her own battle with cancer, Grace started We Cancerve, an organization that creates activities to bring happiness to homeless, sick, and foster children through events and donations. So far, they’ve been able to help over 3,700 children in need!
Chris saw rising crime rates and failing school systems in his hometown (Kinston, NC) and decided to do something about it. After meeting with the mayor about his concerns, Chris founded the Kinston Teens Inc., which gives teens pride in their community while also giving them leadership and community service opportunities!
Lillian’s organization is Vision For and From Children! After dealing with her own eyesight problems, she wanted to find a way to give more children the eye care they need, but can’t always receive. VFAFC now supports children across the globe with sight-saving surgeries and vision services.
In Los Angeles, Jonas met a homeless child the same age as he was. It inspired him to start Love in the Mirror, which provides disadvantaged youth with basic necessities like food, clothing, and learning materials. His organization has helped over 45,000 families through fundraising and donations!
Tune in to the 2016 Halo awards tonight at 7 p.m. (ET/PT), across Nickelodeon, TeenNick and Nicktoons.
